Abstract

This research examines the status of Abu Hurairah in the Riwāyah of Hadith from the perspective of Mahmoud Abu Rayya. This research revolves around the criticism of Abu Rayya of Abu Hurairah where he said that Abu Hurairah did not sincerely embrace Islam because his conversion was merely a way to make a living where he served under the Ummayad dynasty after the Prophet's death. The research employs three approaches in this study: the inductive approach, analytical approach, and critical approach. The research deals with information about the personality of Mahmoud Abu Rayya and his ideas about the Sunnah and its narrative. The research came to these conclusions: Abu Rayah claimed that he wrote his book through scientific inquiries but evidence showed otherwise. It was discovered that Abu Hurairah was mudalīs in the hadith, although al Muhadith agreed with Abu Hurairah. The research hopes that it would, once and for all, end whatever speculations against Abu Hurairah and his invaluable contribution to the science of the Hadith.
