Publication Al-Baghdadi teaching technique for qur`an recitation : a case study of Al-Baghdadi Learning Centre, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, Selangor(Kuala Lumpur: International Islamic University Malaysia, 2017, 2017) ;`Ainun Mardhiah binti IsmailIn general, Malaysia is one of the Islamic developing countries in the world. It is a fact that it is compulsory on every student is compulsory to learn religious subjects in their school, either in primary or in secondary school or both especially with regard to learning the Qur’an. The most widely used technique in teaching the Qur’an is the Iqra’ technique. However, there are still a large number of students with Qur’anic illiteracy. Thus, this research attempts to discover the problems that cause Qur’anic illiteracy and introduce the alternative way in overcoming Qur’anic illiteracy in Malaysia. The findings show that 0.6% of the student were at the poor level while 38.2% at the very poor level. It was also concluded that the students’ ability to recite the Qur’an was satisfactory, whilst their ability to apply the rules of the Qur’an recitation was merely satisfactory. It shows that the students’ ability to recite the Qur’an is good enough to reach the qualification standard that they should have reached. Therefore, there is a need to pay more attention on these issues as the weaknesses will affect their learning and understanding of the Islamic subject as a whole. This research promotes several methods in order to understand al-Baghdadi’s teaching techniques of the Qur’an such as the critical analysis, survey, interview and data analysis in order to understand the general perceptions on Qur’anic illiteracy to al- Baghdadi’s Qur’anic teaching technique, particularly at Baghdadi Learning Centre Section 7, Shah Alam, Selangor.13 30 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication al-Sa`adah in the Qur`an and Sunnah : an analysis of al-Ghazali`s view(Gombak : International Islamic University Malaysia, 2010, 2010) ;Nurul Asiah Fasehah bt Muhamadal-Sa`adah or happiness is the ultimate goal of human kind. In Islam, people desire to obtain success and happiness in both the world and the hereafter. The present study seeks to examine the real concept of al-Sa‘adah, from the Qur’an and Sunnah perspective with special reference to the theory of happiness introduced by al-Ghazali to show the true meaning of happiness in life and to safeguard those who seek happiness in vain means. The study focuses on: (a) al-Ghazali’s life and works; (b) al- Ghazali’s concept of al-Sa‘adah; and (c) al-Ghazali’s techniques to achieve happiness. The researcher has applied qualitative method which relies on primary and secondary sources available in the libraries. The thesis is primarily based on some famous writings of al-Ghazali concerning al-Sa‘adah such as Kimiya’ al- Sa‘adah, Bidayah al- Hidayah, Mizan al-‘Amal and Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din etc. This study has made certain important findings about al-Ghazali’s concept of happiness. His concept primarily focuses on the happiness of Hereafter, though the world is not neglected. In order to achieve al-Sa`adah, al-Ghazali stresses on the improvement of the soul and the main method to achieve it is by knowledge and action. The research suggests that knowledge and action are interrelated to one another. In order to gain happiness in both the world and Hereafter, man should obtain knowledge and action, and only with this, will man achieve happiness.25 45 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Child abuse in Malaysia : an analytical study of contributing factors and solutions from the Qur`anic perspective(Kuala Lumpur :Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2017, 2017) ;Hazwani binti HamdzahChildren are an integral asset for future development of a nation. In lieu of this notion, almost all countries pay considerable attention to their development and well-being. In recent times, child abuse has become a worrying phenomenon that can no longer be ignored. This issue is constantly making headlines in national newspapers in Malaysia. The statistics issued by the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia indicate that the number of child abuse cases reported is increasing dramatically from 2008 until 2013. In 2008, 2300 children were reported to be abused, and the figure has increased to 44.1% in 2013 when 4119 children were reported to have been abused by either their own parents or guardians. In Islam, children are a monumental trust from Allah SWT, since Allah SWT has mandated parents the responsibility to raise and educate children. Treating them well is thus a personal and religious obligation. Conversely, child abuse is indeed a great sin. Hence, this research seeks to investigate an overview of child abuse in Malaysia and how Islam prohibits child abuse by exploring existing research works, articles, journals, theses and books from library and archive. Analysis of Qur’anic verses and interpretation related to the prohibition of child abuse, as well as the kind treatment of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions towards the children and the youth, is also carried out, which serves as evidence of child abuse prevention in modern times in Malaysia. The solutions proposed by this study are mainly divided into three stages: (i) the establishment of individual awareness, (ii) the establishment of social awareness and (iii) institutional reform.61 45 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Comparative study on the science of qira`at in Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia(Gombak : International Islamic University Malaysia, 2010, 2010) ;Muhammad Hafiz bin SalehThis research aims to study the development of the science of qira`at in Malaysia by focusing on selected higher education institutions. The researcher selected University of Malaya, National University of Malaysia and Islamic Science University of Malaysia for the purpose of this research as these are the only institutions offering the science of qira`at at the undergraduate level in Malaysia. The purpose is to look how these institutions transmitted the knowledge to the students and to analyse the effectiveness of its learning. While doing comparative study on the subject, the researcher identified several similarities and differences methods and sources used by qira`at lecturers in teaching the courses. The researcher discovered that the understanding of the science of qira`at among students in the higher education institution is very good. They admitted that learning the science of qira`at gives the students positive impact towards improving their learning, especially in Qur`anic courses. Before all these, the researcher introduced the science of qira`at in details as it is important to give clear view on the knowledge before explaining its development in Malaysia.10 24 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Ethics of Islamic finance products and services : an analysis of Qur’anic guidance and consumer perception(Kuala Lumpur :International Islamic University Malaysia,2017, 2017) ;Nor Sazwana binti SumairiIslamic financial institutions (IFI) that are governed by shari‘ah principles are expected to have inherently strong ethical roots such as promoting justice and avoiding any illegal and unethical elements. Hence, ethics has become a vital component in order to provide “value” for consumers. Indeed, there are numerous Qur’anic injunctions and Prophetic guidance concerning ethical principles pertaining to Islamic finance, particularly those related to the ethics of business transactions. This research emphasises Islamic revealed guidance by compiling the Qur’anic verses related to financial transactions using selected exegeses (tafasir). Furthermore, this research also focuses on how consumers perceive the ethicality of products and services offered by IFIs. It delineates the importance of ethical finance and the need for Islamic banking to align with ethical banking. Meanwhile, a quantitative research methodological approach was adopted in this study by utilising a structured questionnaire comprised of close-ended questions. The questionnaire was distributed among IIUM academic and administrative staff. The research findings show that the majority of respondents had a positive perception of the ethicality of Islamic finance products and services. This study also found that Islamic banking should formulate strategies to educate and offer unique products and services differentiated by underlying ethical values to increase its appeal to customers. The findings also suggest that ethics could be considered as a factor that encourages patronage of IFIs. Thus, this research is expected to assist IFIs to demonstrate their commitment and efforts in providing added value to customers.12 26 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

It is an attempt to identify secondary school students’ views concerning their understanding and practice of Hadith of the prophet Muhammad sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. The researcher also studied the factors that may influence students in secondary religious schools in Malaysia in order to understand and practice the Hadith in their daily life. The samples for this study consisted of 576 students from four secondary religious schools selected from four states in Malaysia. This study used a questionnaire as a means of collecting the necessary data. The questionnaire was based on the Likert Scale. The outcome of this study could assist teachers, schools administrators, students and the Ministry of Education of Malaysia in equipping students with Islamic teachings. This research is also hoped to enrich the Hadith literature and Hadith study in Malaysia. Thus a fresh draft can be drawn to upgrade the Hadith studies in the curriculum to benefit a new generation of students in Hadith studies.2 34 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Human embryology in the holy Qur`an :a comparative study between Tantawi Jawhari`s and Zaghloul Naggar`s interpretations(Kuala Lumpur : International Islamic University Malaysia, 2016, 2016) ;Mizanur RahmanOne of the most important scientific indications mentioned in the Holy Qur´an is the embryonic development of human beings in the mother’s womb. The Holy Qur´an provides a detailed description of the scientific events in embryonic development, from the stages of gamete and conception until full-term pregnancy and delivery. Commentators of the Holy Qur´an have explain the issue of the early stages of human reproduction in their works differently. Some of them explained it from the scientific perspective while others regard it impermissible and interpreted the ayah from the linguistic angle. Tantawi Jawhari and Zaghloul Naggar deal with the ayat from the scientific viewpoint. They agree on some issues while maintaining differences on some others. No academic research so far has been carried out on Naggar’s commentary of the Holy Qur´an. Hence, it seems significant to deal with the issue of human embryology from the scientific perspective based on the writings of the two prominent scholars. Descriptive, analytical and comparative methods have been essentially applied in this research. Descriptive method has been employed in Chapter Two, where the life and contributions of these two scholars are illustrated in detail; while analytical method has been used in Chapters Three and Four, where the concept of scientific tafsir, its development, the viewpoints of scholars and the methodology of these two scholars applied in their tafsirs have been analyzed accordingly. Lastly, Chapter Five has been devoted to comparative analysis between the views of the two scholars in their exegeses on human embryology. The research suggests that scientific interpretation of the Holy Qur´an remains permissible with certain conditions. The study also reveals that the interpretations of Zaghloul Naggar on the verses of human embryology are more precise as well as relevant to the practical science of embryology compared to the interpretation of Tantawi Jawhari. Finally, this research suggests that without proper Qur´anic knowledge and scientific insights, no one should talk about the natural phenomena and the scientific indications mentioned in the Holy Qur´Én; otherwise, it may lead to misinterpretation of the holy book of Allah, revealed for the guidance of humankind.17 38 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Malaysian teachers’ code of conduct : a critical analysis from Sahihayn’s perspective(Kuala Lumpur :International Islamic University Malaysia,2017, 2017) ;Zabidah binti MuhammadTeachers’ misconduct defies the pivotal role of teaching profession in educating students. Despite the useful codes of ethics (Malaysian Teachers’ Code of Conduct and Ministry of Education’s Work Ethics) implemented by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia, there are a number of ethical or disciplinary problems involving individual teachers reported frequently in the media. This research is thus conducted to find any compatibility or incompatibility between Malaysian Teachers’ Code of Conduct, Ministry of Education’s Work Ethics, and the Prophetic teaching ethics in selected aḥādīth of Ṣaḥīḥayn (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim). The contents of Malaysian Teachers’ Code of Conduct and Ministry of Education’s Work Ethics are evaluated to find the noble ethics in them. Then, the ethics are compared to the selected aḥādīth of Ṣaḥīḥayn containing the Prophetic teaching ethics. Selected Qurʼānic verses and the major tafsīr works are used to support the discussion. The researcher has found that most of the ethics, emphasized in both of the Malaysian teachers’ codes of ethics aforementioned, are compatible with the Prophetic teaching ethics portrayed in the selected aḥādīth in Ṣaḥīḥayn. Both sources of ethics are compatible in terms of teachers’ duties towards students, parents, societies, colleagues and the teaching profession. The Malaysian teachers’ codes of ethics also resonate with the Prophetic teaching ethics pertaining to having the right intention, behaving in a good manner, encouraging goodness, being disciplined and cultured, and being concerned and responsible towards the efforts of the organisation they serve. The incompatibilities are, in terms of responsibilities towards God (Allah ), comprehensiveness of Prophetic teaching ethics, lack of elements of “warning against evil”, straightforwardness and moderation, humility, courage to speak the truth, and the attribute of ḥayā’ (pious shyness from committing religious indiscretions) in Malaysian Teachers’ Code of Conduct and Ministry of Education’s Work Ethics. The research provides an added value to teaching practice in Malaysia.60 35 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Peer Muhammad Jainul Abideen`s approach to qur`anic interpretation : a critical analysis(Kuala Lumpur : International Islamic University Malaysia, 2017, 2017) ;Syed Alaudeen Seyed IbrahimJainul Abideen is a scholar and founder of Tamil Nadu Tawhid Jamaat (TNTJ) which has the largest number of followers among Tamil speaking Muslims in Tamil Nadu and other parts of the world. He has translated and interpreted the Qur’an and Hadith books. His views differ from the mainstream interpretations of well-established scholars on various issues, such as siÍr, evil eye, understanding of the Hadith, etc. He gives fatawa on sihr and evil eye but they differ from other scholars. Although some scholars of Tamil Nadu criticise his controversial views, it has drawn very little research attention in the academia, and remained unstudied in India and beyond. This thesis focuses on Jainul Abideen’s historical life and interpretations of the Qur’an and Hadith on selected issues. Using analytical and critical methods, the study scrutinizes the views of Jainul Abideen based on his booklets, public speeches, video tapes and articles. In addition, the study has analysed the interpretations and views of the pioneering scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama`ah to compare the views of Jainul Abideen. Thus, the researcher examines the differences between the views of Jainul Abideen and the majority of scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama`ah. This study notices that the arguments and views of Jainul Abideen on those selected issues are similar to the views of Mu`tazilah, a controversial sect in the Islamic history.4 21 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Projection of jihad in jihadwatch.org : a critical study(Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2016, 2016) ;Nusairah binti RamliNowadays, there are misconception about the word jihad which is often described in connection with violence and terrorism. These misconception cause hatred towards Muslims. The problems arise when people are inclined to believe these misconceptions especially when it comes from the Internet. Yet, it is difficult to differentiate the information about jihad on the Internet. Thus, this research chose the most up to date website who writes on jihad as a sample to understand the misconceptions of jihad. This research covers entries in 2013, specifically on the entries that used Quranic verses to support their arguments. Based on the result, there are three Quranic verses used most frequently to support the argument that jih?d is violence and it supports terrorism. The verses are 8:60, 9:5 and 9:29. The research is important to help people engage with the current issues on jihad and Islam.4 28 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Prophet Muhammad`s daily lifestyle and its scientfic indications :an analytical study of Al-Shama`il Al- Muhammadiyyah(Gombak : International Islamic University Malaysia, 2010, 2010) ;Khafizatunnisa` binti JaaparThe main purpose of this study is to explore the greatness and purity of Prophet Muhammad's (s.a.w.) way of life and to analyze its significance for today's life from scientific perspective. There are numerous ahadith that detailed the everyday activities of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w., yet the main source of hadith for this study is derived from Imam Tirmidhi's Al-Shama'il al-Muhammadiyyah which covers ahadith on the traits and the daily activities of the Prophet s.a.w. In this study, the hadith that concerns any given activity will first be stated and then it would go under the process of critical evaluation of its chain of narrators and the texts of ahadith, which will follow scientific value and impact of all given ahadith. The result of this study shows that almost all ahadith in Al-Shama'il al-Muhammadiyyah are 'sound' or 'acceptable' ones, though at times, Imam Tirmidhi quoted some 'weak' ahadith, and at rare cases, the 'extremely weak' ones. He quoted them due to its extensive benefits and sound meaning. There is no doubt that the discoveries made by the scientists of the past and the present prove that every act performed by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. contains remarkable benefits for the maintenance and improvement of the human health. True devotion to the Sunnah of the Prophet s.a.w. would guarantee one balanced spiritual development and sound physical growth.11 30 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The Qur`anic ayah on wife beating : a comparative study on classical and modern interpretations(Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2015, 2015) ;Noor Hafizah binti DumiIslam continues to be a misunderstood religion especially to non-Muslims. Many of its directives remain a subject of hot debate, and continue to be a thorn in the minds of Muslim scholars. One of them is related to the Qurʼanic provision derived from the Quranic Ayah on wife beating, al-Nisāʼ 4: 34 that allows Muslim men to take action in dealing with their wives (women) whom they feared had committed disobedience, disloyalty and ill-conduct (nushuz); first, admonish them; second, if they remain disobedient and behave with ill-conduct, separate them from the beds; and third, if they refuse to amend their behaviour and are determined to demonstrate their disobedience and disloyalty, then subsequently the husbands may, therefore, beat them lightly (waaḍribuhunna). The first two steps of the action are reasonable and justified but the last one according to feminists and liberal Muslim authors, needs urgent reinterpretation because it looks like an incitement of violence against women. This research thus examines the wife beating phenomenon, particularly the one that occurs in Malaysia. It is then followed by analyzing the interpretations of selected classical and modern scholars in order to evaluate the differences between these two generations.6 33 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Qur`anic guidelines for generic skills : an applied study of IRK students, IIUM(Kuala Lumpur :International Islamic University Malaysia,2010, 2010) ;Ahmad, SiddigUniversities play an important role to produce quality graduates who possess excellent skills in both academic and extra curricula activities to cater the need of the current job market. Employers prefer to recruit officials who are competent in interpersonal communication, leadership skill, team work, oral and written skills. They are reluctant to employ graduates lacking certain necessary skills. They prefer graduates who are flexible and take initiative to undertake different challenging tasks. This reveals the fact that there is a serious gap between the skills that are required by the employers and the skills that the graduates possess. Therefore, this research is conducted to examine students’ perception and practice of generic skills and to evaluate the methods adopted to improve such skills at the university. The researcher focused on five aspects of generic skills namely; communication, team work, problem solving, lifelong learning and self-esteem. From Qur’Énic perspective, the same terms have been used except minor differences in using various terms. The thematic interpretation is used when discussing these aspects from the Qur’Én. The quantitative research involved 140 Islamic Revealed Knowledge undergraduate students, International Islamic University Malaysia. The instrument used is a set of questionnaire and the data are analyzed using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 11.5. The data are presented in tables based on the frequencies and percentage. The findings showed that the students need generic skills to become successful graduates and they have to develop these skills during their period of study. They need to improve different skills through various in and out of classroom learning activities such as classroom discussions, group work, presentation and project assignment. These skills will turn them to be flexible in order to function effectively in a wide range of social and professional context.5 26 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The shaping of adolescent behaviour in the lights of Al-Bukhari`s Ahadith :|ban applied study of International Islamic University Malaysia students` behaviour(Kuala Lumpur : International Islamic University Malaysia, 2016, 2016) ;Siti Samihah binti Mohd YusoffAdolescent behaviour is an important concern of the society. As university students are still in the stage of adolescence, this study attempts to discover the condition of students’ behaviours. International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is well known as a ‘Garden of Knowledge and Virtue’. As students of an Islamic university, the students there are expected to have good behaviour and must manifest commendable behaviour in their lives. However, in reality, some of them do not manifest good behaviour and fail to behave according to the expected norms. This issue should not be taken lightly and underestimated. Thus, a research was conducted by using a questionnaire which was inspired by Al-Bukhari’s aÍhadith related to behaviour towards Allah, others, and oneself. The respondents for this research consist of first year students enrolled in the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) in their late adolescence with the age range of 20 to 21. A descriptive statistic method was used for all the collected data and the data were analysed and processed by using the software Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The result shows that a majority of the respondents have good knowledge of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad. Overall, most of the respondents have good behaviour. However, some of the respondents confessed that they have bad behaviour such as loitering and spreading gossips. Even though the mean shown for bad behaviour is the lowest among other behaviours, this matter needs to be addressed. Indeed, the result shows that KIRKHS students have also done certain behaviours that are not expected. In a nutshell, there is a need to follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad r because the best guidance is the guidance of Prophet Muhammad .4 33 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The role of social media in da'wah activities in Bangladesh : an analytical exploration in light of the Qurʾan and sunnah(Kuala Lumpur : AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2026, 2026); Noor Mohammad Osmani, Ph.DThis research critically examines the evolving role of social media in da'wah activities in Bangladesh, using the normative framework of the Qur'an and Sunnah. It aims to: identify the main platforms used for da'wah, assess their benefits and potential, explore related ethical and practical challenges, and propose recommendations to enhance digital da'wah within Islamic principles. A qualitative approach was adopted, using semi-structured interviews with eight Islamic scholars and da'wah practitioners who are active on platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The data were audio-recorded, transcribed, and analysed through thematic analysis with the help of the ATLAS.ti software. This method allowed the identification of key patterns, insights, and ethical concerns emerging from participants’ experiences. The findings reveal that social media has broadened access to Islamic knowledge, encouraged diverse participation, and improved communication and engagement in da'wah. However, issues such as misinformation, commercialisation and weak scholarly supervision were regarded as common challenges. This study concludes by proposing an ethical framework for digital Da'wah grounded in the Qur'anic principles of ḥikmah (wisdom), maw'iẓah ḥasanah (benevolent exhortation), and ikhlaṣ (sincerity), ensuring a balance between technological use and Islamic authenticity.21 12 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication ابتلاء الأنبياء بالحزن وأثره التربوي على عاطفة الطلبة الجامعيين : دراسة قرآنية تحليلية من رسائل النور(Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyyah Abdulhamid Abusulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences,2026, 2026); ; Raudlotul Firdaus Fatah Yasin, Ph.DThis research examines the concept of trials through grief among the prophets in Quranic narratives, focusing on the stories of Prophet Yū nus (AS) and Prophet Ayyū b (AS) in Risā le-i Nū r, and its connection to emotional education among university students. This study emphasises the role of Quranic stories in emotional education and its potential as a remedy for emotional struggles. In addition, the researcher adopted the inductive method by collecting and analysing the required academic material. The purpose of this method was to enable the researcher to obtain accurate and reliable information. The researcher also employed the survey method to gauge university students’ opinions on the emotional challenges they face and the underlying causes. The aim of this method was to study the extent to which students utilise the Qur’an in resolving emotional difficulties in their lives. At the same time, the researcher used the analytical method to examine the theoretical and field data collected. This study explores the concept of emotional education in Quranic stories, with the aim of highlighting its role in developing the emotional dimensions of learners. The researcher employed an analytical and inductive approach to obtain precise and reliable findings. The results indicate that Quranic stories serve as an effective tool for instilling positive emotional values and enhancing emotional self-regulation skills among university students. Moreover, the integration of Quranic narratives into educational curricula contributes to shaping a balanced personality that harmonises intellect and emotion. In light of these findings, the researcher recommends incorporating emotional education derived from Quranic stories into Islamic educational curricula, as such an approach fosters an educational orientation based on Quranic values that cultivate human virtues and promote psychological and emotional balance among university students.1 11 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication اتجاهات التفسير الإصلاحي في شبه القارة الهندية في القرن العشرين : دراسة تحليلية(Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2015, 2015) ;محي الدين، محمد ;Mohiuddin, Muhammad ;This thesis seeks to address approaches and trends of reformatic Qura’nic Tafsir in the 20th century in Indian sub-continent which is done through various methodologies, trends and ways by intellectuals in the Indian sub-continent. The thesis emphasizes on a diversity of voices in order to provide a ‘snapshot’ of approaches associated with the Qur’an in the Indian sub-continent today. It remains part of a creative and intellectual effort among Muslims in the same area to project new ideas and to assert that Islam and the Qur’an are compatible with the aspirations of Muslims all over the world today. In my observation, most of the approaches and trends are not strictly examples of traditional Tafsir; rather, they are attempts made by Muslim scholars to engage the Qur’an with current and contemporary life and with existing community. Most of them have examined practical problems within the community even though some are written through the theoretical process. Moreover, all those reflect the concerns, interests and approaches of a new generation of Muslim scholars in the Indian sub-continent. Reformatic approaches to the Qur’an in the Indian sub-continent are, of course, related to developments in this area. Some external practices, reflections and issues are also focused on the activities of Muslim scholars in this sub-continent.13 36 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication اختلاف القراءات وأثره في التفسير من خلال " تفسير معارج التفكر ودقائق التدبر" لابن حبنكة الميداني - سورتا الأعراف وطه أنموذجا(Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2020, 2020); ; ; ;Elatrash, Radwan Jamal, Ph.DThis research seeks to study and highlight the effect of the various readings of the Holy Qur’an (Qiraat) on the exegesis of the Qur'an, by providing examples from chapter Al-Araf and Taha. The researcher chose Ibn Habbanaka al-Maidaani’s exegesis, thus, clarifying his personality, his methodology of interpretation, indicating his interest in the ten Qiraat, and illustrating their effect on his exegesis. This research seeks to explain the science of Qiraat and their differences, their various stages and evolution. The researcher has adopted the inductive approach by looking through all the parts of ‘Ma`arij atafakkur wa daqa’iq attadabbur’, some books of the science of Qiraat and their differences, and some other books of different interpretations, Hadiths and their explanations, some language books, dictionaries and others. Then, she continued the process of completing the research using the analytical descriptive method. The researcher is to read the texts that are related to the research and analyze them in order to identify and track the al-Maidaani’s interest in the recurrent form of recitations in its interpretation through illustrations of the two chapters of Al-Araf and Taha. By the Grace of Allah, this study came out with some significant results: The research proved that al-Maidaani tremendously focused on the various types of Qiraat by employing these recitations in his exegesis with the help of all the ten recurrent recitations to clarify the word of Allah. Al-Maidaani referred to many books such as exegesis, Hadith, rhetoric, doctrine, and language books. The Qiraat have great impact on exegesis by clarifying the various miraculous aspects of the Qur'an. Al-Maidaani's interest in the various Qiraat greatly appeared. He considered the reference to such Qiraat one of the key rules that any exegetist must adhere to as these differences in Qiraat play a key role in the statement and the manifestation of new meanings in the exegesis of the Qu’ran. The variation of Qiraat is a kind of Qur'anic miracle since the difference in Qiraat only shows diversification among the Qiraat and not conflict among them.17 18 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication الاتجاه الاجتماعي في التفسير عند قريش شهاب وموقفه من قوامة الرجال : دراسة تحليلية(Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2020, 2020); ; ; ; ;Khaled, Nashwan Abdo, Ph.DRaudlotul Firdaus Fatah Yasin, Ph.DThe social trend in the interpretation of the Quran is so significant that it has gained momentum today, therefore, has been regarded as a new method of interpreting the Quran based on social reality. This breakthrough has changed the way scholars deal with a Quranic text. Likewise, it has proven its validity in bringing about social change with no narrow-mindedness or bigotry to the views and statements of later and former scholars. This new method of social interpretation of the Quran has enable scholars to deduce benefits and exclusive conclusions from the Quranic text as a solution to material as well as spiritual uncertainties of societies. From this standpoint, contemporary scholars aim to find answers to concerns and problems faced by societies. They aim to respond to the suspicions and misgivings raised about the Quran and Shariah. An example of this social interpretation is ‘tafsir al-Misbah’ by Quraysh Shihab. The researcher uses two approaches: inductive and analytical. He uses the inductive approach to read through books of Islamic exegesis and the writings of Quraysh Shihab on social trend in the interpretation of the Quran meant to deal with contemporary issues. He also uses the analytical approach in explaining the concept of Qiwamah (man’s guardianship in a household of a woman) and the impact of social trend in the interpretation of the Quran on understanding the nature of that Qiwamah and all the misgivings that surround it. The research has concluded that: the significance of the social trend in interpretation of the Quran lies in its unique quality in bringing the Quran down to popular understanding as well as in presenting a key solution to recurrent contemporary problems. That Muhammad Quraysh Shihab has drawn on the writings of the proponents of the social trend in interpretation of the Quran in order to reconcile ‘text’ and ‘reality’. That there is no evidence whatsoever for the claim made by the opponents of the Quran that Islam has infringed the rights of women and has stripped her of freedom. Qiwamah is an honor for women—it is rather authority of guardianship not that of subjugation, control or violence.
