Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace be upon the Prophet Muhammad the most noble of prophets and messengers and his kinship and companions and those who followed their guidance until the Day of Judgment. This study deals with the stance of the Torah, the Gospels and the Qur'an regarding terrorism. It is a comparative study, which explores the ideological roots of terrorism and the impact of religious beliefs and ethics on the behavior of groups and individual at the times of peace and war. The study follows the relevant texts in the Torah, the Gospels and the Holy Qur'an. Then the texts are analyzed with reference to exemplary testaments from history. The aim is to clarify the truth and to disclose facts which were concealed either deliberately or due to ignorance. The research work is divided into six chapters with twenty nine sections. The first chapter deals with the research plan and the general structure of the work, which after a short introduction presents the problem statement and the objectives of the research, as well as its importance and methodology. The second chapter focuses on the nature of terrorism, its linguistic and conventional definitions, clarifying its reasons, motives, objectives and its various types. Chapters three and four respectively explain terrorism as stated in the Torah and the Gospels. Then, proofs are presented that show how the meanings in both the Torah and Gospel were corrupted and misrepresented. The types of corruption and misrepresentation are exposed in accordance with the testimonies of many scholars, and the contextual reference that had encouraged terrorism and mass murders as stated in the Torah and Gospel. The references are clearly cited. The fifth chapter addresses the issue as stated in the Holy Quran. Reference to the word "terrorism" and its meaning in the Holy Quran has been grossly misinterpreted, with no less misinterpretation of the terms relating to fighting. The argument is followed by mentioning the verses of killing and the attitudes associated with it. A brief analysis is then made of the verses of fighting with relation to terrorism (deterrent). At the end of the chapter some historical terrorist incidents were presented in which most of the victims were Muslims. The final chapter is focused on a comparison between texts in the three scriptures that call for peace and care of human rights and a witnesses from historical events that advocate the position of the Holy Quran by comparison with Torah and the Bible with regard to killing, fighting and terrorism. The study shows that the Jews in particular and the Christians in general were strongly influenced by the texts of the Torah as both of them sanctify the text therein, which has been distorted and altered, especially with respect to terrorism, aggression, murder and genocide without discrimination. Injustice and aggression against groups and individuals were inflicted by various techniques of murder and torture. Terrorism was practiced in accordance with the text of the Torah as testified by historic references and events. The Holy Quran on the other hand has recognized and established laws that dictate the principles of peace amongst people and protected their human rights. The Holy Quran encourages the respect of others, and prevents injustice, aggression and murder clearly. The teachings of Islam denounce fighting and killing except when Islam or Muslims are facing danger of injustice and aggression. The command of the Prophet (pbuh) and the practices of Caliphs who followed him bear witness to the righteous behavior of Muslims equally in war and in peace.en_US
