Abstract
These days, there is a huge development on halal research due to the increasing awareness in all matters related to halal and demand for it all over the world, especially in the industrial aspect. However, the concept of halal research mainly stressing on its legality (halal and haram) and its standards instead of exploring halal in its wider facets and highlighting its advantages. Even if there are discussions on the advantages, particularly in the halal industry, its attributes are merely observed from the point of economic rewards. For that reason, this study aims to explore the governance of halal in its broader aspects rather than limiting it to only within the industrial area. The aspects in question are: 1) halal governance in socio-cultural human relations; 2) halal governance in economic activities; and 3) halal governance in food and beverage. Furthermore, this research seeks to examine the advantages of halal from various points of view that are relevant to these issues – particularly in the spiritual, physical and mental facets. To achieve these objectives, data had been collected through library research by exploring Qur’anic exegeses on the halal theme. Past studies and current research related to this study were also utilised. This study has discovered the principles of halal in each aspect and revealed the advantages. Therefore, it is necessary to understand these principles and their advantages for the goodness of humankind both as individual and social beings.
