Abstract

This research aims at studying some of the texts of the discourse of the late Sheikh Muhammed Al-Ghazali in his book titled “KifÉhu DÊn - Struggle of A Religion”, and realizing the concealed linguistic meanings in the texts through the instrumentality of textual elements of coherence such as context of situation, contextual meanings, syntactical, morphological and phonological elements, contributing altogether to the achievement of textual coherence, and assisting readers in conscious understanding of the texts and their objectives. It also attempts -through practical analysis- at expatiating the elements of al-Ghazali’s sensitive discourse, relying on the Arabic linguistic traditions which are relevant to current development in grammar. The study reveals the capability of Arabic traditional philological studies to adequately cope with contemporary western linguistic data. It therefore employs a descriptive and analytical methods in its analysis, focusing theoretically on the nature of elements of consistency, and how the elements interact to achieve the intended textual goal drawing from Arabic and western traditions. The research therefore demonstrates practically how the elements contribute to the comprehension of al-Ghazali’s religious discourse. The findings indicate Arabic issues related to the textual elements of coherence among Westerners, explaining their ability to analyze the religious text. It emerged in the research that the textual elements of coherence here supported by the standard in the process of discourse analysis in the field of Linguistics. This research proves undoubtedly the use of textual elements in the analysis of modern religious discourse, where it shows its meaning clearly to the recipient until he comprehends, understands and interacts with it discernibly; influenced competently by Linguistic Communication, which aims at elevating the standard of the Arabic and its enhancement.
