Abstract

Project Based Learning is one of the recent pedagogical method that learning scientist are recommending for implementing in the schools to improve the cognition of the students. The objective of this research is to explore the issues related to the implementation process of Project Based Learning in the classroom. The researcher interviewed three teachers, two administrators and analysed documents such as recorded project work and website of the schools in order to conduct the research. The research finding suggests that the student and teachers were not only facing challenges while implementing Project Based Learning, there were loads of benefit they were receiving while the implementation process. Students were facing challenges to cope up with the team work, sustaining their attention and enthusiasm for a long time while teachers were fighting with challenges like project planning, designing driving question, holding student attention for a long time, formulating complex assessment, the heavy workload they had to go through and meeting students need. The school faced challenges to arrange different sites for the students as an opportunity for the real learning. As an added result of the research, the researcher found some benefits associated with Project Based Learning. Thus, the research adds more evidence of issues related to the implementation of the unique pedagogical method to the existing literature and recommends the implementation of Project Based Learning in education by revealing different benefits of its implementation.
