dc.description.abstractThe study aims to investigate the perceptions of students, teachers and experts' use of Facebook in the development of Arabic Writing skill among non-native speakers. Besides, the study measures the effects of Facebook on Arabic writing attitudes among students involved in this study. A group of students who were studying Arabic writing skills course at the Centre for Languages and Pre-University Academic Development (CELPAD) of the International Islamic University Malaysia were selected and they were asked to use Facebook (a social networking website) in Arabic writing activities for the course. The survey is one of the instruments used in this study to collect data related to students, teachers and experts' perceptions on Facebook utilization on teaching and learning writing skills. The second instrument is the One Group Pretest and Posttest, used to measure students' attitudes towards Arabic writing before and after the utilization of Facebook as a learning platform. This study found that students believed that Facebook has high potential in education and it utilization in learning Arabic writing skills. This is supported by the Facebook's positive impact on students' attitude towards Arabic writing after Facebook utilization where there is a statistically significant at (p < ·. • 0 ) between students' attitudes before and after utilization of Facebook in learning Arabic writing skills. The study thus suggests that the teaching of Arabic Language skills as a second language has to be based on the Social Construction Theory and Social Interaction Theory (Yang & Wilson, 'I' • • i) using the social websites so that the language used could be utilized in students' social life through writing.en_US
