Abstract

This study examined the relationship between personality traits and administrative stress and their direct impact on the level of burnout among special education teachers in the Sultanate of Oman. These teachers face significant challenges that affect their professional performance and mental health, which in turn affects the quality of education provided to students with special needs. The study aimed to determine the nature of the personal characteristics possessed by teachers, and to analyze the extent of the impact of administrative pressures on their level of psychological burnout, in addition to studying the differences between teachers according to gender (male, female) to know how these variables affect each category. To achieve the research objectives, The study relied on the descriptive correlational approach, as data was collected from (???) male and female teachers during the academic year (????/???? AD), using an accurate scientific questionnaire to analyze the relationship between the studied variables and reach practical conclusions that help improve the work environment for teachers. The results showed that the administrative pressures faced by special education teachers were high, leading to varying levels of burnout. Emotional stress was moderate, while emotional numbness and a low sense of personal accomplishment were high, reflecting the impact of pressure on teachers' psychological and professional well-being. The study also revealed a direct relationship between personality traits, administrative stress, and their impact on burnout. It also revealed clear differences between teachers by gender, indicating the importance of considering individual differences when providing psychological support and professional training programs for teachers. The study results showed that personality traits explained ??? of administrative stress and ??? of burnout, while administrative stress explained ??? of burnout. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between neuroticism and burnout (r = ????, p < ????). Based on these findings, the study recommended the development of guidance programs aimed at enhancing teachers' ability to manage psychological stress and improve their emotional stability. It also recommended supporting special education schools with additional teaching staff to alleviate professional burdens and enhance the work environment. The study also emphasized the importance of providing a supportive learning environment for teachers to ensure their continued efficient professional performance, which would positively impact students with special needs.
