Abstract
This study attempts to examine the extent of the practice of strategic planning at International Islamic School (IIS), a sub-business unit of International Islamic University Malaysia. The major objective of the study is to investigate the extent IIS practice strategic planning for school excellence. For these purposes, a questionnaire was specifically designed for getting information from the respondents who are the top executives and other members of the strategic planning team of IIS, Gombak. To describe the respondents’ extent to the practice of strategic planning for school excellence, descriptive analysis was used in the study. A questionnaire, using the Five Points Likert Scale, was employed as an instrument to collect the data. The population of 81 consisted of principals (head of secondary school) and teachers. Besides that, frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations for each item of the questionnaire were computed. The analysis revealed that IIS extent of practices the strategic planning generally appeared to be positive for school excellence. Moreover, this thesis discussed the implications of the research based on theoretical, practical and managerial implication. Finally, recommendations and suggestions for International Islamic School, IIUM were provided for future improvement.
