    The influence of visionary, role modelling and empowering on selected high performing schools in Selangor

    The main purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between transformational leadership domain such as visionary, role modelling, and empowering with students’ academic achievements. The study employed a survey approach and the data were collected using five-point Likert scale survey questionnaire. A total of 129 teachers (23 male and 106 female) from selected high performing school in Selangor, Malaysia participated in the study. The data were analysed using descriptive statistic, correlation analysis and series of regressions. The findings of the study revealed that in general, the principals of higher performing schools in Selangor possess high level of transformational leadership practices comprised of visionary, role modelling and empowering elements. It is also indicated that generally the principals possess three domains of transformational leadership comprised visionary leadership, role modelling leadership, and empowering leadership. The findings also proved the importance of practicing the transformational leadership domains among the principals in pursuit of students’ academic achievements for future excellent of higher performing schools’ students. The findings from this study also may initiate the development of the educational transformational leadership practices training among the principals of higher performing school in Malaysia.
