    Leadership styles of educational leaders and work engagement from the perspective of lectures of selected research public university in South Sulawesi

    The aim of this study is to study the influence of leadership style on work engagement. This study uses a quantitative approach, and this study was conducted around July- September 2021 at Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar. Data collection was done using online and offline questionnaires. The population in this study were lecturers at Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar. The sample in the study was determined by 251 respondents who were chosen randomly. The data analysis techniques used were frequency, mean and correlation analysis. The results of this study showed that the dominant leadership style used at Alauddin State Islamic University Makassar is Transformational leadership. The dominant type of work engagement used by lecturers is type Absorption. The study found a significant correlation between perceived transformational leadership with lecturers' work engagement. It also found a significant correlation between perceived transactional leadership with lecturers' work engagement. Keywords: Transformational leadership style, Transactional, work engagement.
