This study examined the cash waqf and its application in “Tabung Wakaf Indonesia”. The study also made an attempt to explore the concept of cash waqf, its legality, benefits, and an overview of its history. It also explained the institution of Tabung Wakaf Indonesia as a Nadzir institution, its history, legal system, objectives, activities and programme of charity, investment and social projects. In the end, the study attached certain documents relating to the cash waqf. The research has adopted an inductive analytical approach to reach the desired results. One of the most important results reached that Nadzir (cash waqf fund manager) collects the fund from Waqif (cash waqf payer) and invests the money in the real sector and in any shariah-based investment opportunities. Nadzir will then allocate profits and returns gained from the investments to poverty alleviation programme. Nadzir is obliged to maintain the amount of fund in such a way that it does not go below the initial amount. In addition, the study assessed the importance of this type of waqf.
