This thesis aims to clarify the roles of Omanian scholars in field of sciences of Qur’an and Tafsir ('Ulum al-Qur’an wa Tafsir) and highlight the methodology adopted by Al-Shaykh Al-Shaqsi, based on his encyclopedia named: Manhaj al-talibin wa balagh al-raghibin. The researcher employs the induction, hystorical and analytical methodologies to analyze the opinions of Al-Shaykh al-Shaqsi on the terms 'Ulum al-qur’an and then compare them with opinions of other scholars. The thesis contains four chapters and conclusion. The researcher found that Al-Shaykh al-Shaqsi played a significant role in the service of the Holy Qur’an. He was guided by the narrative tafsir (al-tafsir bi alma'thur) and Arabic language in his contribution to 'Ulum al-Qur'an (Sciences of Qur’an). His methodology is one which does not plagiarize the opinions of other scholars; rather, he discusses, evaluates and acknowledge them in his works. In addition, he referred to the Sunnah, without differentiating between the authentic, weak and fabricated (sahih, da'if, mawdu') narrations attributed to Prophet Mohammed (saw). Al-Shaykh al-Shaqsi in his tafsir was interested in clarifying the names of Qur'anic chapters after explaining its verses and defining words in a simplified manner.
