Publication ترجمة شبه الترادف في القرآن الكريم إلى اللغة الملايوية : ترجمة عبد الله باسميح نموذجا(Kuala Lumpur :Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2018, 2018) ;نضيرة بنت عبد اللطيف ;Nadhirah binti Abdul Latif ;The current study aimed to highlight the problems in translating near-synonyms in the Glorious Quran into Malay Language by exploring the techniques used by Syeikh Abdullah Basmeih in choosing the equivalent meaning, clarifying the differences between near-synonyms and eliminating the ambiguity between pairs of meanings. A descriptive-analysis method was adopted to describe the aspects of the problems and to designate the points of view of the linguists in overcoming these problems. The study has found that the translator faced limitations in translating near-synonyms adequately due to the difficulty in demonstrating them. The study concludes that stating the exact different meaning associated with near-synonyms is very significant in understanding the intended meaning, especially when they come in conjuction or adjacent in the same verse. Moreover, in other cases, it shows that different meaning will lead to confusion among readers in understanding the text due to contradiction of the familiarity in the target language. Therefore, the near-synonyms should be chosen according to their suitability in the context and the target language.15 3
