This study aims to investigate the development and evaluation of a mobile language guide application in the Arabic language for Mutawwif (Umrah tour guide) via smartphones on Android-based platform known as i-Mutawwif. The study was conducted by using descriptive and analytical methodologies. The design and development processes were completed by using the ADDIE instructional design model, whereby the needs analysis process was conducted among 100 Mutawwif, who were randomly selected among from the Andalusia Travel and Tours company at the International Conference for Mutawwif which was organised at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) on 18 October 2016. After that, the evaluation on user testing session was conducted among 50 respondents and consisting of 30 Mutawwif and 20 Arabic language learners from the Baitul Mal Professional Institute under the specialisation of Diploma in Hajj and Umrah Management from 26 March until 20 April 2017. Overall, the results indicates that this interactive mobile app prototype helped users, who are Hajj and Umrah guides, to learn the Arabic language via Android-supported smartphones. It also fulfills the need of users to learn the language for travel purposes, to perform their duties as Hajj and Umrah guides and to communicate in Arabic more effectively.
