He dedicated sixty years of his life to teaching Prophet’s Sunnah with utmost persistence. The purpose of this thesis is to inform the Ummah of the Imam and Muhaddith- Sayyid Nazeer Hussain and his works and efforts in spreading the knowledge of Islam. The thesis comprises of; Sheikh’s educational upbringing and the praise various scholars gave him; his efforts in spreading the Sunnah through teaching and education, calling people to always reason with authentic hadiths; characteristics and summary of his book ‘Miyar ul Haqq’; an account of his most prominent students and their own efforts in attending to the Prophetic Sunnah and Science. The thesis provides a brief information of his students because the Sheikh himself does not have many publications as his specialty was teaching and benefitting his students. The thesis ends with conclusions and recommendations. The study suggests and recommends that universities should motivate their students to conduct research on the efforts of The Scholars of India so that the future generations could learn and benefit, especially on the history of Imams and Muhadditheen from the 13th century Hijri. This study followed the inductive approach to examine the Sheikh’s efforts in spreading the doctrine of the ‘People of Hadith’, an analytical approach to study the scientific materials collected from various sources and references, and lastly the critical approach to judge those Narrations where the Scholars of Hadith have differed in the hadith being authentic or weak.19 1
