    Practice of postgraduate thesis supervision as perceived by KIRKHS students in IIUM

    This study was conducted to investigate the practice of postgraduate thesis supervision and its effectiveness at one of the faculties in International Islamic University Malaysia. The study used a purposive sampling of 274 postgraduate students who were actively involved in research activities at the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, IIUM. An online survey was distributed by email to the selected participants. The response rate was almost 60 percent. The findings of the study revealed that the students perceived the most frequent practice of postgraduate thesis supervision was Islamic work ethics, followed by supervisory process and the least frequent practice received by them was administrative and work environment. The findings also showed that the most effective practice were Islamic work ethics, followed by supervisory process. The least effective area of postgraduate thesis supervision was administrative and work environment. There were a strong significant relationship between the practice and effectiveness of postgraduate thesis supervision in all three areas of administrative and work environment, supervisory process and Islamic work ethics. Finally, the results showed that the practice of supervisory process has the greatest impact on the effectiveness of supervision.
