Publication التأمين الإسلامي وتطبيقاته في شركتي " أمانة للتكافل " و" إليد للتأمين " بدولة المالديف : دراسة تحليلية تقويمية(Kuala Lumpur : Kulliyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2021, 2022) ;علي زاهر سعيد قاسم ;Ali Zahir Saeed Qasim ; ; ;Arif, Ali Arif, Ph.DMuhammad Amanullah, Ph.DThis research aimed to investigate current practices of Islamic insurance and its applications in the Maldives. In addition to this, the study also aimed to explore the emergence and development of Islamic insurance and various challenges that are associated with the provision of Islamic insurance services in the Maldives. To achieve this aim, Amana Takaful Maldives, and Allied Insurance Company, represented by its Islamic window called “Ayadi Takaful” were taken into consideration. Two main methods of analysis were used in this study. Through the analytical approach, their compliance with legitimate Islamic insurance system were evaluated. In addition to this, a comparative approach was used to understand the differences between the Islamic insurance and conventional insurance. Moreover, this approach is also used to evaluate Islamic insurance practices and level of implementation in these two companies. These analyses were carried out by evaluating their products and contracts which were concluded in insurance operations, Sharia control systems, investment methods, reinsurance arrangements, and their insurance surplus distribution system. The research concluded that Amanah Takaful Company in the Maldives and Ayady Takaful Window have made several efforts in developing the Islamic insurance industry in the Maldives. Moreover, it was also found that they adhere to the legal regulations set by scholars for the practice of Islamic insurance. Although the Islamic insurance industry in the Maldives has many challenges, the industry has valuable opportunities. However, these opportunities can only be available by establishing a proper legal framework in the Maldives. Moreover, a legal framework is also needed to regulate and govern the Islamic insurance industry separately from the conventional insurance systems, and the development of an action plan for better stakeholder participation.4 7
