The current study aimed to design a proposed model that activates field training and provides university students with required skills in the labor market of the Sultanate of Oman, by exploring facts related to field training in university education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman and its current practices of planning mechanisms, organization, supervision and guidance, evaluation and feedback on the process of training students, and identifying the most important skills required in the private labor market and criteria for their acquisition. To achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher chose the descriptive studies style and the mixed approach that combines quantitative and qualitative data. Two different instruments were designed for data collection: the first is a questionnaire that focuses on quantitative data and deals with the first three objectives of the study. The questionnaire consisted of (3) main themes with (96) items. The second is an interview intended to focus on qualitative data collection and deals with the fourth objective, which consisted of (4) open questions. The study sample consisted of a number of academics from public and private colleges and universities in the Sultanate of Oman in the field of university education and career guidance, and a number of human resources employees from private sector institutions in the Omani labor market, which numbered (283) individuals. They were randomly selected to answer the questionnaire. However (12) experts were chosen purposefully for the interview. The quantitative data were statistically processed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program, by extracting the Pearson correlation coefficient, the Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient, arithmetic averages and standard deviations, and calculating percentages and frequencies, while the qualitative data were processed using thematic analysis. The study concludes that there is an availability ranged between medium and weak of mechanisms of the current field training. The results also showed a list of the most important skills required in the labor market at the Sultanate of Oman and criteria for their acquisition, in light of these results, the study developed a proposed model for activating field training in providing university students with the skills of the labor market in the Sultanate of Oman. It is expected that university education institutions will benefit from this model in improving their output skills to join the Omani private labor market.
