Through the effort of Muhammad Abdul Rahim who collected the whole of Imam Al-Shafi’I’s poems, the research chose this book because it contains various figures of speech. To achieve the goals, the researcher has followed directed or deductive content analysis methods. The research analyses the figures of speech in terms of simile, metonymy, trope, and metaphor that were found throughout Imam Al-Shafi’I’s poems. The study discovers that there are different and distinguished patterns of thought in Imam Al-Shafi’I’s poetry which were based on a variety of means such as beauty euphemism and cosmetic rhetorical devices.
