The research outlined the history of the historical novel, factors of its emergence and features of the Islamic historical novel and its topics. The research also discusses a number of issues related to the relationship between the historical novel and the history, the novel’s discourse in the criticism of reality, the historical novel in between the permissible and forbidden, the relationship of the historical novel with other historical narratives such as the theatrical play and the historical narrative.
