Abstract
This study is an attempt to investigate the concept of al-hakimiyyah li Allah, the sovereignty of (God) in contemporary Islamic political thought. Its main objective is to evaluate the exposition of Mawdudi and Sayyid Qutb of the concept of al-hakimiyyah and the controversy surrounding it.
