Abstract
The objective of the dissertation is to design a microphone at the rostrum, which can detect the presence of a speaker and automaticall repositioned itself according tot the speaker`s height. This task is accomplished by two condenser microphones attached parallely to the main microphone, which has the capability to detect normal human voice. This design is able to ignore noises by narrowing the frequency range by using the infrared sensor as a distance sensor, where the system is then activated within the range set. The software system using an assembly language is designed to process input from the electret microphones at a certain frequency range produced by the human voice. The system is built around PIC16F877, to identify the position of the microphone and to control the vertical movement of the microphone. While, a DC geared motor is the mechanical part responsible to support the movement up and down of the microphone.
