Abstract
This research deals with the study of the patriotic poems of each of the two poets: Mahmoud Sami Al-Baroudi and Ahmed Shawqy, for what distinguished their poetic production of patriotic contents that contributed to instilling the patriotic feeling among the Egyptians, and their response to the national movements in Egypt. The research depends on three approaches: the analytical approach, technical approach, and comparison approach in order to analyse how the two poets’ proposals were about national topics, to extract rhythmic artistic values and put them in the balance of contrast and equilibrium as well as to reveal the extent of similarities and differences between them. The research emphasized the patriotic contribution of the two poets with the eyes of their poems, their sincerity in the feeling of Egyptian patriotism, and their role in renewing poetic purposes in terms of extracting them in their literary works, which is one of the themes of the era. The research also shed light on the most prominent external and internal rhythmic features in their national poems, whereby the researcher conducted an artistic balance, seeking similarities and differences between them. The research concluded that there were factors that prompted the poets to draw inspiration from patriotism in their poems, as national trends differed in them, according to the stages of life they went through. The circle of patriotic poetry in al-Baroudi's poems expanded until it reached its climax at the hands of Ahmed Shawqy, so he dealt with national issues at length in his poems. and repetition. The researcher recommends studying the patriotic poems of the two poets from other artistic aspects to discover more manifestations of interdependence and divergence between them.
