Abstract
The research examines the historical Islamic narrative of Ali Ahmed Bakthir and Jurji Zidane by making a critical analysis combining the historical objectivity and the artistic picture of the historical narratives in the Wa Islamah, Sirat Shuja and Al-Faris Al-Jameel by Ali Ahmed Bakthir and Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi, Shajarat al-Durr and Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf by Jurji Zaidan. The research outlined the history of the historical novel, factors of its emergence and features of the Islamic historical novel and its topics. The research also discusses a number of issues related to the relationship between the historical novel and the history, the novel’s discourse in the criticism of reality, the historical novel in between the permissible and forbidden, the relationship of the historical novel with other historical narratives such as the theatrical play and the historical narrative. The research concludes by analyzing the narrative elements in terms of literary art and objectivity in the historical novels of both authors, revealing their commitment to the Islamic vision and the existence of Islamic features in their novels in terms of artistic creativity and historical truth.
