Abstract

he Internet of Things (IoT) technology is one of the advanced tools that has been integrated into the healthcare industry. Various IoT-based devices are built to respond to the vast demands of healthcare monitoring. This study is based on the development of the online monitoring system which deviates from the common study that focuses more on the improvement of the monitoring device and the early diagnosis assistance. This IoT tool is devised to monitor chest vibration activity that contains human vital signs. However, the priority of the study is the development of various backend and frontend applications that function as the database server and the system’s user interface. Then these applications are assessed based on real-time scalability. The question is whether an online system with these applications is capable of producing a real-time display. The backend applications are developed separately based on a Python program, an SQL-based model and a non-SQL-based platform which are real-time scaled based on data transportation and data presentation. Meanwhile, Anvil and Python Flask web framework is designed as the frontend application. The recorded refresh action for the designed web display is observed and compared with the applications’ programmed refresh rate. The result presented that the online system monitoring system based on the non-SQL model and Python Flask produced the closest real-time display. The approximate real-time delay for this proposed system prototype is 1 to 1.53 seconds and this observed delay is in line with the expectation.
