Abstract
The study aimed to identify the attitudes of mathematics teachers in Hafar Al-Batin governorate towards use of social media sites in teaching mathematics. This study’s sample consists of 147 Saudi mathematics teachers at the secondary level. Out of the 147 Mathematics teachers, 63.3% were males while 36.7% were females. The descriptive quantitative research design was employed to achieve this study’s objectives using an adapted questionnaire consisting of 20 items that measure teachers’ attitudes. The descriptive analysis showed a moderate positive attitudes among the teachers who took part in this study with the mean being 3.25. This result reflects some awareness among the male and female mathematics teachers in Hafar Al-Batin Governorate regarding importance of using social media in teaching mathematics. Additionally, the results from inferential statistics (Independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA) showed that there were statistically significant differences between male and female teachers regarding their attitudes towards use of social media in teaching. Moreover, there was a statistically significant difference in teachers’ attitude based on their educational qualification. Furthermore, there were statistically differences in teachers’ attitudes towards adopting social media in teaching mathematics based on their age and teaching experience .
