Abstract

This research aims to identify the role of vocational training centers in achieving sustainable development in Oman in light of the national strategy of education 2040, the challenges facing this role, and the most prominent proposals to overcome them, the researcher has chosen the descriptive analytical approach, and the sample of research was selected in a random way and formed of 412 participants: 256 trainees, 136 employees (trainers, administrators and technicians), and 20 leaders of training centers. Three research tools were designed to answer the five research questions, the questionnaire for trainees, the questionnaire for employees, and an interview for leaders. The results of the research showed that the trainees' estimates of the role of vocational training centers in achieving sustainable development in Oman were high at 3.67, employees’ estimates were at an average of 3.35. In addition, there were statistically significant differences in the trainees' estimates of the role of training centers due to the variables of the job and scientific qualification, and in employees’ estimates referred to the variable of job. The challenges to sustainable achievability in the training centers was highly rated regarding the point of view of employees. The leaders of the training centers have suggested activating electronic training platforms, granting training centers administrative and financial autonomy, establishing interactive training centers equipped with the latest technology, and linking training centers to a unified database.
